What is Horizontal Deep Cylinder Honing

Horizontal deep cylinder honing is a critical process for achieving precision in the internal surface finish of large and deep cylindrical components. This technique is essential for removing excess stock after drilling or boring a shaft, and will eliminate gouges, scoring, and other damage to a cylinder’s inside diameter.  Honing is often used to repair damaged cylinders and is often performed both before and after hard chrome is added to a part to repair and protect it. Industries such as aerospace, automotive, heavy machinery, and hydraulics rely on our honing services to ensure their components function properly.

Our Process and Capabilities

Precision and Accuracy: Michigan Hone can hold virtually any bore dimensional, straightness, and micro finish tolerance a customer could ask for.  Send us your requirements and we will figure out a way to give you what you want.

Advanced Equipment: Equipment can process parts ranging in length from 11″ to up to 60′ (sixty FEET) and inside diameters ranging from 3/4″ to 34″.  Experienced material movement staff and on-site equipment can handle up to 20,000# parts.
